Lorna's

art

I come from an artistic family, and seem to have inherited the artistic flare. In this respect I take more after my Gran than my Mother, being creative in 2D and 3D work than musical.

My earliest experiences and influences of the art world came from my Gran, Margarete Klopfleisch, watching her sculpt and paint.

I have always felt the need to be creative and follow in my Gran’s footsteps.

My art subjects are all based round nature and animals of all descriptions, real and fantasy, imaginary. It’s a reflection of my own personal opinion concerning survival of the species and the effects humanity has on our environment. So many species have become extinct and are on the endangered list due to human intrusion and destruction of habitats.

My first inspirations for creating any animal sculptures are the endangered and extinct species. This is a subject that I find alarming, how many animal species are on the endangered list and how quickly some can come to the brink of extinct. What would the world be like without animals? They are important to the whole environment, everything is linked, when the smallest insect disappears, this small unseen creature can affect the larger. They all play a part in looking after the environment. Humans tend to do the opposite, destroying nature and cultivating it to their own needs.

My current sculptural work now, is using and recycling (up cycling) objects that would normally end up in the bin. Main things I use are computer mice, old disks, electrical bits & bobs, like wires, crocodile clips and so on, to create an animal sculptures.

Apart from 3 Dimensional art I draw & paint animal portraits & landscapes. I also make greeting cards, and dabble in photography.

I am open to take commissions for animal portraits or unique greeting cards.
